Drake signs a deal with performance rights organization ASCAP, leaving BMI behind.

Drake has followed his go-to producers, Noah '40' Shebib and Boi-1da, to the performance-rights organization they call home, ASCAP. Drizzy signed with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), which is an organization that protects his copyrights and makes sure he's paid his royalties. The rapper was previously with BMI, but ASCAP's VP of Rhythm & Soul Membership, Nicole George-Middleton, announced the change today.

According to Billboard, Drake said the following about the deal, "For me, a big part of making music is getting the opportunity to work with people I love, trust and respect. As an organization run by music creators, ASCAP represents a whole community of kindred spirits. Joining ASCAP was just a natural choice for me because I know my music is in the best possible hands."

George-Middleton also spoke on their venture, "We are really excited to build on our longstanding relationship with Drake’s team." George-Middleton added, "Working from the beginning with his collaborators Noah '40' Shebib and Boi-1da, it felt only right to have Drake join the ASCAP family."

Drizzy is currently working on new music for his third studio album, Nothing Was The Same, which is sure to rack up the royalties and keep ASCAP busy.
