Sometimes early success in the music business doesn't give way to a long and sustained career making beats and/or songs that fans will listen to and cherish for years after. In some cases, it might just be one phase of a person's life, leading them to try new careers and discover more about themselves in the process. In fact, Focus was one of the men in the Aftermath system who worked extensively on the now-killed Detox album. He was still releasing his own music as a solo artist until the end of 2013, but in the time since, he'd fallen on hard times. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he shared with fans the journey he's gone through since then
"Life can change in an instant," he began. "I went through a rough transitional season and music wasn't paying the bills. I could've sat and let everything fall apart but, I chose to do what needed to be done at that moment and Jehovah blessed my efforts." The beatmaker now works with UPS and, according to his caption, the experience has been nothing but positive. "I worked with one of the coolest cats I have ever met @qhambrick (best boss ever) and this job helped me realize a lot about myself. I am willing and able to take care of my family by any means necessary and I am always open to learn new things. True, my plan A was, and is my only plan BUT, when unforseen situations arise, will you sit and sulk in depression or be malleable and use the experiences to help you build a more fortified foundation? These are my reminders... I am not ashamed..."
