Don't get it twisted. Lil Xan does not support using Xan. While some might accuse the buzzing rapper of capitalizing on an unfortunate drug epidemic, it would appear that Xan has realized the error of his ways. He recently spoke to Ebro about changing his name to Diego; the transition will happen, but not until the arrival of his debut album, appropriately titled Total Xanarchy. Today, the young rapper stopped by Hot 97 to converse with Ebro, who has occasionally played the gatekeeper to a few emerging artists.
Over the course of the interview, Xan reveals that he's managed to secure several notable guest appearances. "I got YG, 2 Chainz, Charli XCX and Diplo," he says. "We really wanted the album to be something else." Stylistically, the rapper promises diversity. "This album is where I feel like I shine with the whole creativity...It's a lot of stuff people haven't heard. It's a very mature sound. I don't think they're going to expect it."
Xan goes on to show some love to Mac Miller, who played a pivotal role in shaping Xan's influences; one can certainly see the similarities, as Mac himself was a prior drug user gone clean. While the jury is still out on whether Xan can deliver something on par with Mac's best work, it would appear the kid has a solid head on his shoulder. Questionable name aside, Lil Xan's upcoming Total Xanarchy may very well prove a pleasant surprise.
The project drops on April 6th. Check out the full interview below.
