One of the most tragic moments of 2017 was the untimely passing of Lil Peep. The young artist passed away at the age of 21, following a public struggle with Xanax and other substances, which he often sang about. A previously unpublished interview with Peep has been released by German publication Znova, showing where the rapper's head was at just months before his death. Peep spoke on everything from drugs, to his depression, to his plans for the upcoming year.
When discussing what he had planned for the end of 2017 and the following year, Peep said, "Just getting my name out there. In a couple of years, I’ll be a household name. Everyone’s going to know who I am. I’ve done so much in such a short amount of time already that I don’t think it’s that unreasonable of a goal." Peep's music was desperate and exuberant at once, giving a clear eye into the mind of a young artist who was suffering in his mental jail. On depression, Peep attributed moving to Los Angeles as getting away from a place that was bleak for him.
While the circumstances are incredibly heartbreaking, Lil Peep has become a household name in the hip-hop world and his absence from music has truly been felt. Read the full interview here, which was conducted with Peep via Facebook Messenger.
