After celebrating their Grammy nomination for 2015's Ego Death, The Internet has been strikingly silent. Not releasing any albums since their highly-celebrated last effort, the group announced last week that they would be releasing a brand new track, accompanied by a video shortly. With member Steve Lacy telling Beats 1 that their Ego Death follow-up was nearly finished in December, it looks like the album roll-out can finally begin.
Available in select international markets, The Internet's return to music consists of an incredibly funky track titled "Roll (Burbank Funk.)" While the offering is not a lyric-driven track, the production is stellar, with many layers driving your finger to the repeat button on whatever streaming service you prefer. With melodious harmonies gracing the background, The Internet's rearrival is exactly what most people expected from them: an upbeat, fun-loving, groovy track that we won't be able to get out of our heads for a while.
Quotable Lyrics:
Catch stars, up high
Hear it in your heart
We're up, so high
Hear it in your heart
