While on vacation in her home country of Barbados for the holidays, Rihanna got into the giving spirit by making a sizable donation to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The "Diamonds" singer donated several expensive pieces of medical equipment totaling $1.75 million in the name of her late grandmother Clara "Dolly" Braithwaite, who passed away from cancer in June.
Rihanna, along with several family members, were on hand for the presentation as the radiotherapy department of the hospital was renamed the Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine.
"This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program," said Rihanna in a statement. "I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados. This was all done to save lives or at least extend them."
