Iggy Azalea has been open about her troubles with record labels. After a dropping a slew of singles that failed to reach commercial success under Def Jam, she aired out the label's CEO for refusing to put out any singles. Last fall, she dropped a four track EP and simultaneously revealed that she wouldn't be dropping any music for the rest of 2017 because she signed a new deal. She didn't reveal who she signed to at the time but it looks like she's found a new home at Island Records.
According to Billboard, Iggy Azalea has changed from Def Jam to Island Records. Their sources claim that it was shortly after she aired out Def Jam CEO Steve Bartels that she ended up relocating to Island. The interesting thing about Island Records and Def Jam is that they're both owned by Universal Music Group and in 2013, they were merged together as Island Def Jam Music Group. A year later, Universal separated the labels as their own entities three weeks before Iggy released The New Classic which dropped under Def Jam solely.
Last week, Iggy dropped off her first single in a long time with "Savior" featuring Quavo. The single was dropped through Island Records and is the beginning of the roll out for her next album Surviving The Summer. The single seemed to stray away from her rapping and delved deeper into the pop sounds she's been rocking with for a while.
There's yet to be a release date for the project but with a new label and a fresh single, it looks like it'll be soon.
