If anyone's been in Los Angeles recently and driving around the city, you may have noticed the large "Oprah For President" banner located off the Interstate 10 freeway. Well sadly for some, the famous talk-show host and entrepreneur has put the rumours (and hopes) to rest where she finally confirmed that she is not running for President.
Oprah was recently chatting with Lin-Manuel Miranda discussing her upcoming episodes of SuperSoul Conversations that's set to drop in March. During her interview, Lin-Manuel was chatting about his success after his musical Hamilton and how it doesn't mean he will then run for office. Oprah then jumps in and says "I'm not either!" The audience had a little cheer and gave their respective reactions. Watch the video below.
As many now know, the whole 'Oprah For President' wave started after her Golden Globes speech, where she delivered a powerful message on race, gender equality and more that sparked quite a storm on social media. Users wanted her to be the first woman in office amid all the negative headlines surrounding America's current President.
"In my career, what I've always tried my best to do, whether on television or through film, is to say something about how men and women really behave," she said at the award show. "To say how we experience shame, how we love and how we rage, how we fail, how we retreat, persevere, and how we overcome. I've interviewed and portrayed people who've withstood some of the ugliest things life can throw at you, but the one quality all of them seem to share is an ability to maintain hope for a brighter morning, even during our darkest nights."
