UCLA freshmen basketball players LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill will face the media today for the first time since being arrested in China for shoplifting from three different stores inside a high-end shopping center in Hangzhou.
The three players are expected to open up about the incident with reporters during a press conference today at 2pm ET. You can check out the live stream below.
The three players landed in Los Angeles last night after being cleared of all charges. Their UCLA teammates returned to the States over the weekend after their season-opening victory against Georgia Tech in Shanghai.
Earlier today, President Trump took to twitter to question whether or not the players would thank him for getting them out of a jam that could've landed them in prison for 10 years.
Trump reportedly brought up the UCLA basketball shoplifting case during his meeting with China's President, Xi Jinping on Saturday in Beijing. Xi allegedly promised Trump that the three players would be treated fairly and expeditiously.
UPDATE:
Shortly after the players spoke to the media, Bruins head coach Steve Alford announced that LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill will be suspended indefinitely.
"They will have to earn their way back," UCLA coach Steve Alford said in a news conference Wednesday, per ESPN.
"These are good young men who have exercised an inexcusable lapse of judgment, and now they have to live with that," Alford said.
