Tom Brady and the New England Patriots had an opportunity to clinch the AFC East division last night in Miami, but they didn't play like the Patriots we've come to know and the Dolphins took advantage of their lackluster play.
Miami's defense did not allow the Pats to convert on a single third down, Xavien Howard picked off Brady twice, and Jay Cutler threw three touchdowns, resulting in an improbable 27-20 victory for the Fins.
The Patriots are still in control in the AFC East with a 10-3 record but it was an incredibly disappointing game for the defending Super Bowl champs, even without their star tight end, Rob Gronkowski.
Brady summed it up as simple as he could after the game. Per ESPN,
"It was a bad night," Brady said. "We've had a lot of good nights this year. This was a bad night."
During the post game presser, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was salty, to say the least.
When asked about New England's pitiful onsides kick attempt late in the game, Belichick could hardly muster, "They recovered it." And when a reporter brought up the Pats' upcoming showdown against the 11-2 Pittsburgh Steelers, Belichick looked like he might break down.
