Donald Trump is denying that he told a widow of a U.S. serviceman killed in an ambush in Niger that "he knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurt."
Rep. Frederica Wilson was present when the call to Army Sgt. La David Johnson's widow, Myeshia Johnson, took place, where she overheard part of the conversation on speakerphone. According to the New York Post, the call was only about five minutes long and Myeshia's only words were "thank you" at the end of the call.
After Frederica put Trump on blast this morning on CNN's News Day, Donald tweeted that she had "fabricated" his words.
Frederica responded back to the tweet saying she has evidence herself. "I have proof, too: this man is a sick man," Frederica said. She added that Myeshia "broke down" after her call with the President saying he "didn't even know his name."
The Congresswoman was asked if she was sure about her claim on the insensitive words said by the President: "Yeah, he said that. You know, ... that is something that you can say in a conversation, but you shouldn't say that to a grieving widow. Everyone knows when you go to war you could possibly not come back alive, but you don't remind a grieving widow of that. That is so insensitive. So insensitive."
Just yesterday we posted on Donald speaking at a press conference where he made everyone aware that he was set to call all the families of the fallen soldiers from the October 4th killings in Niger. During the conference, he threw a jab at former president Barak Obama where he claimed Barak took no such action in paying condolences to all the hurting families. "Other presidents did not call, they would write letters, and some presidents didn't do anything," he said. When asked if he was sure about his claim he backtracked with: "I don't know if he did. I was told that he didn't often, and a lot of presidents don't. They write letters. I do, I do a combination of both."
