Growing up in poverty and escaping that struggle through success in rap music is a tale as old as time, but it still remains integral to what makes rap music so important. Flexing your wealth and fame allows rap to continue to inspire others, and also acts as a competitive motivator for others.
However, in Fat Trel's new video for "Low Life," he remains with his feet firmly planted in his struggle. Not a single Rolex or diamond chain is to be found in this video. Rather, Fat Trel does the things that he used to do: hang out in cramped apartments, walk through the cold, and sell crack in stairways.
All of this exemplifies Trel's lyrics, where he specifically points out that he never feels the need to brag about what he has because he never had anything to begin with.
