Things got a little testy Tuesday night in Toronto as Raptors forward Serge Ibaka and Heat forward James Johnson got into a nice little scuffle while on the court.
About four minutes into the third quarter, the two began to push each other as they waited for an inbounds pass under the Miami basket. In the midst of it, Johnson decided to throw the first punch and hit Serge in the face, before Ibaka retaliated and punched him right back.
Officials reviewed the incident and then issued technical fouls and ejections to both players. It was Ibaka's fifth career ejection, and his first this season, meanwhile Johnson had his third career ejection Tuesday night.
Don’t be surprised if Ibaka and Johnson receive calls from the league office regarding disciplinary action in the coming days.
In addition to the Ibaka x Johnson scuffle, things got heated n the final seconds between stars DeMar DeRozan and Goran Dragic, who got into each other’s faces. Dragic brushed it off: "Nothing special. Just exchanged some words. No big deal.''
"It certainly felt like there was something at stake from the very tip, and that's the way it should be in this league,'' said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "There was a physicality, an edge to the game.''
As for the game itself, the Heat would hold on to win 90-89 on the road.
