Say goodbye to the processor throttling that slowed down your iPhone

For years, iPhone users would complain that when they got a new update, their phones seemed to slow down. Then, last winter, Apple admitted that they were purposely slowing down older phones to help conserve battery life. iPhone users around the globe felt betrayed by Apple, who swiftly issued an apology. Now, Apple is releasing an update that will take care of that processor throttling issue, as well as adding a handful of new features for iPhone users.

As we previously reported, the update will include four new Animojis and updated ARKit and Health Records features. Users will also be able to disable processor throttling, and models as old as the 6s and above will now have a feature that allows users to control their battery performance manually. Apple hopes that by allowing users to control their battery health, troublesome iPhone charging issues will mostly be alleviated. It also ends the companies necessity to slow down older phones to help preserve battery life.

The new Animojis offer users expressions from the perspective of a lion, bear, dragon, or skull. According to Apple, here is a list of a few of the additional features that come with the new update.

-Apple Music now streams music videos uninterrupted by ads.

-New Health Records feature that helps patients of more than 40 health systems including Duke, NYU Langone, Stanford and Yale view their medical records from their iPhone.

-Business Chat is a new way for users to communicate directly with businesses using the Messages app on iPhone and iPad.

-Support for Advanced Mobile Location (AML) to automatically send a user’s current location when making a call to emergency services in countries where AML is supported.
