We've previously reported that the California rap collective BROCKHAMPTON had recently inked a deal with RCA, the home to artists such as A$AP Rocky, Justin Timberlake, Childish Gambino, and more. We also noted that Jaden Smith, rap's savior and Will Smith's son, claimed himself to be the newest member of the group. Well, the two have come together in a somewhat bizarre new video that was released on the BROCKHAMPTON YouTube channel.
The video, titled "LET'S GET MARRIED", shows Jaden, clad in a bright yellow jacket and some gold chains, standing alone in a parking complex. The camera zooms in and Jaden introduces himself, before announcing that BROCKHAMPTON had signed with RCA. He then walks off. The video ends with a logo for the group's upcoming album PUPPY, which is set to drop sometime this summer. A snippet of a new song, presumably from the album, also begins to play. The song appears to be a light ballad, similar to some of the songs they've made in the past, but a perfect tune for strolling through the park in the summertime.
To the fans worrying about the group's signing to a record label, the groups de-facto leader, Kevin Abstract, already dissuaded their fears, claiming that, "Videos still diy, music still made in our house, and we’re still gonna make the best possible product for y’all." Judging by the weirdness present in the announcement video, it's obvious that they're sticking to their commitments to become the greatest boy band in the world.
