Trailer Park Boys has lost one of its leading characters. Just yesterday, actor John F. Dunsworth, best known for his portrayal of Jim Lahey in the series, passed away at age 71.
The late actor's daughter, Sarah, confirmed the news via Twitter with a screenshot of a note that read, "With heavy and broken hearts the family of John F. Dunsworth would like to let people know that our amazing husband, father and grandfather John Dunsworth has passed away. John left this world peacefully after a short and unexpected illness."
John was born in Halifax (where the show is filmed) and moved to Toronto in the late mid-60's where he began doing theatre while attending the University of Guelph. "I decided then and there that I don't care if I go broke in my life, I am going to be an actor, because I love to live in other people's shoes and learn other [existences]," he told CBC in a 2010 interview.
John played the former trailer supervisor for the show's leads Ricky, Bubbles and Julian. The series sees the trio getting up to tons of schemes as they try a lot of get-rich-quick strategies by selling weed and robbing liquor stores, to say the least. They come across a lot of hangups along the way that usually brings Mr Lahey and his assistant, Randy, mixed up in the drama at some point. Overall Mr Lahey was known for loving the liquor and owning his drunkness throughout the show.
Trailer Park Boys is on its 11th season with the show beginning in the year 2001. A notable cameo throughout the years is Snoop Dogg, who appeared in four episodes playing himself. Watch a clip from an episode below.
