Last night's showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars ended with several fights on the field, multiple ejections and one player attempting to climb into the fans to confront an unruly fan.
Seahawks' defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson was among the players ejected as the Jags closed out a 30-24 victory, and he got into a heated altercation with some fans on his way to the locker room.
As shown in the video clip below, some Jaguars fans threw drinks at Jefferson as he was running into the locker room and, according to Jefferson's teammate Jarran Reed, he was called the N-word during the incident.
After the Seahawks' loss, Jefferson discussed the incident with members of the media.
Per ESPN,
"Folks in the stands was throwing beer and throwing soda, whatever. I mean, I don't know what I'm supposed to do," said Jefferson, a second-year player. "I'm a human just like anybody else. I'm a man just like the other man in the stands. I'm not going to let somebody disrespect me, throw a beer on me.
"Just because I'm playing football, I'm still a human being. I'm still a man. I'm out there playing a game, and at the end of the day, it's a game, and I'm a man. I'm not going to let somebody disrespect me like that."
Asked if he felt it was right to attempt to go into the stands, Jefferson responded: "I don't know. Was it the right call for him to throw beer on me? I'm just wondering if it was the right call for him to throw a beer on me. Just saying."
As the Jaguars attempted to take a knee and run out the clock, several Seahawks defensive ends continued to rush the line which sparked fights on consecutive plays, resulting in the ejection of Jefferson, as well as Sheldon Richardson, who threw a punch amid the chaos.
The Jags improved to 9-4 with yesterday's win which puts them in the driver seat in the AFC South. The Seahawks dropped to 8-5 and are now second in the NFC West, just one game back of the Los Angeles Rams.
