It's Media Day for almost all of the NBA teams today and there will be plenty of talk about President Donald Trump and his recent tweets about anthem protestors, as well as Trump's tweet directed at Stephen Curry.
At the Warriors' Media Day, which was held on Friday, two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry told reporters he'd vote "no" when the team voted on whether or not to go to the White House.
In response to Curry's comments at the Warriors' Media Day, Trump tweeted,
“Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!”
In addition to his remarks about Steph Curry and the Warriors' White House invitation, Trump also bashed NFL owners for allowing players to kneel during the anthem.
During a rally of Friday, Trump said, "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out. He's fired! He's fired!'"
You can expect NBA players across the league to voice their opinions about that throughout the day.
Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal was among the first to call out Trump today and he made his point very clear. Beal referred to Trump as a clown and said he is not a leader.
He told reporters,
"That's not a leader. To come out and disrespect a whole sport that everyone in the world loves," Beal said. "You have guys that won a championship and they have the freedom to decide whether or not they want to go and when one man decides not to go....to me you're a clown. That's unacceptable. Your job is to bring everybody together.'
Beal's backcourt teammate, John Wall, also spoke on Trump and said he "doesn't respect" Trump's office and administration.
