A$AP Rocky stopped by the Power 106 Studios and spoke to Yesi Ortiz about details concerning his upcoming album, which West Coast artists he'd like to work with and leading a healthy lifestyle.
Ortiz opened the interview joking about little A$AP Rocky's running around, but it seems the West Coast Rapper is too busy. The rapper confirmed that his album LongLiveA$AP will finally drop this winter, though he and his label are currently sorting sampling issues. "I've been producing myself, and [since I'm] an amateur, I didn't think to remember where I got the samples from," though the album release date has been pushed back yet again, the Harlem rapper added, "this time is definite."
Rocky also gave props to Kendrick Lamar, saying "I'm so proud of that guy," whose debut album did incredible in its first week. He went on to mention many West Coast artists he'd love to work with, such as Casey Veggies, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and the whole TDE crew, who he compared to NWA. "I'm not going to say that what they did is as big as what NWA did, but I'm saying the way they hold it down, the way they think about the West Coat and L.A., who really, you know, runs it...TDE run it."
A$AP then showed off a bit of his Spanish as the conversation turned to food, saying he recently gave up meat after smelling some live chickens in Brooklyn. It was such a turn-off that he turned to a friend of his who gave him "tips on how to stay healthy because it's really hard to maintain that kind of habit and diet. [Touring is] the worst part. You can lose a lot of weight sometimes and you can get really sick, but for the most part I maintain it."
Check out the rest of the interview below. Great chemistry between Rocky and Ortiz.
