Awards season is fast approaching, a time of year that marks the end of one calendar year and begins the next by honoring the best projects of the previous 12 months. Earlier this morning, the list of the 2018 Golden Globe nominees were announced and, as one might expect, it's a crowded year in both the television and movie categories.
Overall, original content on major streaming platforms and premium cable continue to take over the pool of nominees for major television categories, with The Crown, Game of Thrones and Stranger Things all garnering nods as Best Television Drama. Aziz Ansari's Master Of None was also nominated in the Best Television Category. For those disappointed that Issa Rae's Insecure wasn't among the nominated series, the actress will get herself some consideration in the Best Actress in a Television Series on the comedy side.
Elsewhere, Get Out keep raking in the awards nominations, scoring a Best Motion Picture nod in the Musical or Comedy category (huh?), while Daniel Kaluuya also received a Best Actor nom. Other films that received multiple Golden Globe nominations were The Shape of Water, which is Guillermo Del Toro's latest, Lady Bird, the Margot Robbie vehicle I, Tonya, The Post and The Disaster Artist.
The 75thAnnual Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, with Seth Meyers acting as the host. Check out a brief run-down of some of the nominees below.
