We're all for being your own critic. But, it seems that Post Malone may have inadvertently cast off a career's worth of accolades in his most recent interview. This time around the New York-born, Texas-bred artist was trading words with Nardwuar in the interviewer's latest.
Naturally, the conversation fell onto Post's breakout single "White Iverson," a cut that has gone Platinum an impressive five times since its release.
"I used to get a lot of shit for it," Post explained to Nardwuar when asked whether or not he's ever had to perfrom "White Iverson" twice. His answer was a resounding 'yes.' "You got to understand," he continued. "I had like three songs out. I only had one good song. I still only have one good song, but I had to do it first and I had to do it last ‘cause no one knew who the hell I was."
With such a remark, he may have sparked yet another debate surroudning his come-up. Since debuting "White Iverson," however, it's important to note that Post has also locked down six other tracks that have gone on to certify Platinum at least once. His debut studio album Stoney also went double-Pltanum, peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard charts.
So, flash in the pan? We doubt it. Post deserves to toot his own horn every once and while. But maintaining a solid level of scrutiny for his work could very well lead to a solid outing when he drops off his sophomore Beerbongs & Bentleys album come next year.
