As much as he's built a cult fanbase over the years, Chicago's Lucki has also been slept on. His zoned out post-Keef raps predate the recent wave of rappers that have come up off a similar sound, and it hasn't been lost on Lucki. However, his new material, including the hypnotic "Changelanes" which does everything he does well while still adding to his sonic palette, has more people taking notice. "They sleep but this still the most love I ever got. So I can’t complain," he wrote on Twitter. "We still on the Apple Music Charts. All genres and hip hop 3-4 days now. A lot more cool shit coming this week I coulda been a crybaby. Niggas literally signed million dollar contracts off rapping the way I used to rap. But ima be king, they know that’s why they always show respect. Patience is everything, can’t deny real love."
DAYS B4 II follows Days Be4 Storm project from last year, and signals a new full length somewhere on the horizon. If you're unfamiliar, make sure to check out Lucki's essential Watch My Back project from 2017.
Quotable Lyrics:
All these bands and they still
Ain't what it seem
It's how it goes, it ain't just me
She think I'm too high to drive this car
I adjust speed
You say what you want when y'all pursue
It's called lusting
My lil brother count up like the racks
It ain't just me
