A highlight from her new "Pain & Pleasure" EP.

Tink is newly independent, and she's celebrated her new, more ideal situation with the release of a new EP. Pain & Pleasure feels very much like a project very much released on Tink's terms, made up of 6 strong featureless tracks that play to her strengths. "M.I.A.," one of the most memorable of the bunch is a fluid mix of the Chicago vocalist's singing and rapping, but also pitches her voice up slightly, proving to be an interesting stylistic choice. While the engineering is flashy, Tink's appeal has always been her strong songwriting and personality, which shines through in a big way here, as she effortlessly moves from chorus to verse but never wasting a second when it comes to creating catchy patterns that stick immediately. It's a promising new page in a career that was unsettlingly stuck in a standstill. Listen to the full project here, and expect more from the reinvigorated singer in the near future.

Announcing her departure from her deal with Timbaland earlier this year, Tink spoke to Fader about her decision to go independent. “Over time, people grow up — I grew up,” she said. “I had to get on my boss shit and hire some new attorneys. I had to take a couple flights and sit down with different people who could actually help me in my situation. I had some setbacks; I had people fighting me from either side. Ultimately, I'm just happy that we're at an agreement right now.”

Tink is planning to release Winter's Diary 5 in the near future.

Quotable Lyrics:
Leave that front window open for a breeze
Rollin’ high and getting faded overseas
He gon’ keep me with my toes in the sand
Yeah that’s my man and it go down when we land
