Last we heard, Lil Boat was set to release Lil Boat 2, the sequel to his 2016 debut and follow-up to 2017's Teenage Emotions, in December. As Reddit HipHopHeads points out, there's been a minor change of plans announced via Twitch on Saturday. When asked about the album, Yachty was honest and apologetic. "I'm not gonna lie to you guys, I know I told you December. At the rate it's looking, it's looking like January for Lil Boat 2, I'm sorry," he said. "I'm just gonna be real with y'all."
As for what's caused the change in schedule, Yachty assured fans it was not a lack of effort. "I'm working hard," he said. "I'm trying to get me and [Lil Pump's joint project] together for y'all." On top of that, Yachty is just being hard on himself when it comes to putting out the best product, possibly due to the lukewarm reception of Teenage Emotions. "I just want it to be good," he said. "I don't wanna put out no bullshit. I don't want to put it out and y'all hate it."
Watch him discuss the album below.
Last month, Yachty announced a joint project with Lil Pump to drop "the first of the year." At the time, Lil Boat 2 was scheduled to arrive first, so it's unclear if the release plan has changed. On another Twitch stream, Yachty debuted a Pump collab called "Baby Daddy." Listen to it here. The two rappers have discussed going on tour together after the release of the joint project.
For those who are looking for fresh material from Yachty, he has multiple songs on the new Quality Control compilation released Friday.
