A few days after we published an extensive article about Kid Cudi's influence on a generation, we get to hear what he has been working on lately. While many would argue that his newer releases are nowhere near as impactful as Man On The Moon, Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin' offered hope that Cudi could still release influential and firey albums. We have not heard a solo Kid Cudi track in quite some time so the introduction of "The Rage" is thrilling.
The track blends a few of the styles that Cudi has worked with over the years as the artist's hypnotic hums can still be heard throughout the song. With a hook that recalls the highly-criticized Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven, the rest of the cut is reminiscent of a sound that most love from the Cleveland singer. The song will be included within the soundtrack for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's new movie Rampage, which hits theaters tonight.
Possibly having worked with Kanye West on his album in Wyoming, this may not be the last we hear from Cudi this year. Although his releases have been sparse throughout the years, the man has proven to us all that he has the capacity to create beautiful, timeless and ageless musical products for us all to enjoy. Check out "The Rage" and let us know what you think.
Quotable Lyrics:
The world's got hope in the city where there was war
Made for the pain, it's a battle I'm running toward
Call to the don, I'm embracing it to the core
Forced in a fight and get ready for many more
