Baton Rouge rapper Kevin Gates has announced a new string of tour dates, the first since his release from prison in January. The dates include a performance at the JMBLYA Festival (May 4th-6th), with dates in Dallas Austin and Houston. On July 8th, Gates will also perform at the Common Ground festival in Lansing, Michigan.
In case you're unaware, Kevin Gates was originally sentenced to 180 days in prison after kicking a woman in the face during a concert. Afterward, Gates was hit with an additional thirty months over a felony gun possession charge. Luckily for the rapper, Gates was released early after serving nine months of his sentence. And while he's by and large a free man, Gates is reported to be on probation, and disallowed from possessing a firearm of any sort. Hopefully Gates can abide by these restrictions; he's too talented a rapper to head back behind bars.
Aside from the aforementioned dates, Gates is also scheduled for an appearance at Rolling Loud Miami. Kevin Gates seems ready to return to the fold, and recently found himself squashing an old beef with Boosie Badazz. It seems as if the rapper is ready to start fresh, and hopefully he can waste little time in regaining his lost momentum. Check out part of the announcement below, courtesy of Gates' Instagram.
