Usain Bolt recently linked up with Complex's Joe La Puma at Blends in Los Angeles for an episode of "Sneaker Shopping" wherein the 11-time world champion talks about getting his own signature sneaker, meeting Michael Jordan, and the footwear, or lack thereof, growing up in Jamaica.
During the episode, Bolt touched on his childhood in Jamaica and how he played cricket and soccer barefoot in the streets which resulted in a couple of lost toenails. He explains that Air Jordans were basically non existent at his high school, but Reeboks and Puma had a presence.
Speaking of Puma, Bolt has been with the company for over a decade now and his high school sports teams receive brand new gear at the start of each season. He also spoke highly of Puma's recent collaborations with Rihanna's Fenty Creeper and The Weeknd's Puma XO Parallel, and says his very own signature shoe is in the pipeline.
At the end of his visit to Blends, Bolt made out with $483.94 worth of kicks, including several Puma Suedes and the new olive colorway of The Weeknd's signature kicks.
