Game Of Thrones is one of the most talked about shows these days. For many, it's not just a TV show but a universe with many compelling stories and characters intertwined with each other. The show's creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are gearing up for the eighth season of their show. However, it looks like they have much more in store for the future. Earlier today, it was announced they'd be the ones behind an upcoming Star Wars film series.
Benioff and Weiss will be bringing a brand new series of Star Wars films to the franchise. The new series will be produced and written by the Game Of Thrones showrunners and will be a new series in the Star Wars universe that'll be completely separated from Skywalker saga as well as the Rian Johnson trilogy that's currently being developed.
President of LucasFilm, Kathleen Kennedy, explained the choice in recruiting the Emmy-nominated writers for a new Star Wars series.
"David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today," she said in a statement, "Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting."
For anyone worries, this will not interfere in the shooting of the final season of GoT. The two of them also released a statement expressing their excitement and nervousness to tackle the upcoming film series.
"We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete." It read.
As of yet, there's no release dates for it but we'll keep you updated.
