It's safe to say that Migos were one of 2017's breakout acts; though they had already amassed a cult following with mixtapes like Y.R.N and Rich N***a Timeline, it was last year's Culture that truly elevated them into the spotlight. The trio of Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff ended up becoming household names, spawning chart-topping singles, countless featured verses and even a few memes. Now, their upcoming project, Culture 2, stands as one of 2018's most anticipated releases.
While we've heard a few rumored release dates in the past, namely October (didn't happen) and January (probably won't happen), it would appear that it's coming sooner rather than later. Quavo recently took to Twitter to give a minor update on the album, firing off a cryptic tweet that confirmed Culture 2 was currently being mixed. While Quavo's stream of consciousness style is hard to follow, the Migos rapper makes it sound like he and his DJ Durel might be mixing the project. Otherwise, it may very well be meant as a checklist-style summary of Migos' up-and-coming projects.
Either way, Culture 2 is currently in the mixing stages, which means the music has been recorded, and for the most part, selected. Aside from the Cardi B and Nicki Minaj assisted single "Motorsport," we don't know much about the upcoming sequel, save for a few interesting teasers. Back in October, Quavo alluded to a high-profile executive producer, teasing ""C U L T U R E II WAIT TIL U SEE WHO EXECUTIVE PRODUCED IT!!" Stay tuned for more news on the upcoming Migos album right here.
