Sexyy Red can handle (and make) more jokes than most.

Sexyy Red is no stranger to social media backlash, and she once again proved that she doesn't usually take much stock in it. Moreover, fans recently criticized her online for a recent Instagram Live stream that she held with her friends. The "U Kno What To Do (UKWTD)" femcee read some comments that mocked one of her friends for – in their eyes – looking like "Finesse" (perhaps rapper Finesse2tymes?) and like a transgender woman. Fans thought that her laughter at this was her making fun of her friends. However, Sexyy went into the comments section of The Neighborhood Talk's IG post covering this down below and said that they were all just joking around.

"MAN WE FROM STLOUIS WE GOT THICK SKIN!!" Sexyy Red commented under the Instagram post down below, where you can find more reactions to this debacle. "& we been flammin sh* we don’t care bout nuna dis the joke was funny mfs say I look like young thug all the time and we laugh we all still get [ninja emoji]’z so next …" "Dis her @ if yal wana check up on her since we not good friends to her [eyeroll emoji] @hernamecece__," she added in another comment.

Sexyy Red's Controversial IG Live With Friends: See Comments For Her Response

Whether or not you agree with fans' backlash or you think Sexyy Red is in the clear, these situations can happen often. After all, celebrities open themselves up to criticism of all sorts when they reveal their interpersonal dynamics with their friends, especially when these colleagues are not fellow stars. But she has more social media antics to handle. The relationship drama between the St. Louis artist, her collaborator Chief Keef, and his alleged flame Kayla B continues to develop, albeit in mostly cheeky and odd ways that aren't as contentious as they once were.

Also, we know that Sexyy Red is also prone to making fun of herself, even if that might not excuse her behavior towards her friends in your eyes. For example, she recently laughed off an awkward moment with a streamer when he dodged a kiss from her. We'll see what other social media hijinks cause a fan divide next...

Gabriel Bras Nevares is a music and pop culture news writer for HotNewHipHop. He started in 2022 as a weekend writer and, since joining the team full-time, has developed a strong knowledge in hip-hop news and releases. Whether it’s regular coverage or occasional interviews and album reviews, he continues to search for the most relevant news for his audience and find the best new releases in the genre. What excites him the most is finding pop culture stories of interest, as well as a deeper passion for the art form of hip-hop and its contemporary output. Specifically, Gabriel enjoys the fringes of rap music: the experimental, boundary-pushing, and raw alternatives to the mainstream sound. As a proud native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, he also stays up-to-date with the archipelago’s local scene and its biggest musical exponents in reggaetón, salsa, indie, and beyond. Before working at HotNewHipHop, Gabriel produced multiple short documentaries, artist interviews, venue spotlights, and audio podcasts on a variety of genres and musical figures. Hardcore punk and Go-go music defined much of his coverage during his time at the George Washington University in D.C. His favorite hip-hop artists working today are Tyler, The Creator, Boldy James, JPEGMAFIA, and Earl Sweatshirt.
