With potential twenty-year prison sentence looming, Detroit's Southwest Mook drops a concise reflection.

Detroit's own Southwest Mook may have flown under your radar, but the rapper has a fascinating story. In a mere two weeks, she will be facing a judge over her participation in a police chase; her sentence ranges from between three and twenty years, which may very well spell an extended absence from the rapper. Still, Mook is determined to stay optimistic, and has decided to turn herself into police custody. Today heralds the arrival of her new single "I Ain't Listen," which finds her spitting bars over the legendary Dilla's "Last Donut Of The Night."

For those unfamiliar with Mook, the rapper previously survived a gunshot wound to the chest, and went on to drop her acclaimed Free Gas mixtape. On this latest drop, Mook reflects on where it all went wrong. "Movin' through the trenches, I ain't trying to feel a dent," she raps. "Seeing all the flaws, I ain't really get the hits."

Quotable Lyrics

I was stressing at a young age,
All my n***s dead from the gun rage
I stayed at church no Easter Sunday
