The last thing that teams around the NBA want to hear is that the Golden State Warriors are looking to "beef up their bench" before the NBA trade deadline on February 8th. However, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe, that's exactly what the defending champs are looking to do.
Lowe writes, "The Warriors are trying to beef up their bench given wobbly play from Andre Iguodala, Patrick McCaw, Omri Casspi and Nick Young. They inquired about Avery Bradley, but got nowhere, league sources say. That's not surprising; the Warriors have little to deal beyond minimum-salaried players, second-round picks starting in 2020, and first-rounders they obviously won't flip for bench guys."
As we know, the Detroit Pistons ultimately traded Avery Bradley to the Los Angeles Clippers as part of the Blake Griffin deal. Bradley, one of the game's better defenders, averaged 15 points and 1.2 steals per night in 40 games for the Pistons this season. One player that Lowe believes the Warriors might be interested in is Brooklyn Nets' guard Joe Harris, who they could attempt to acquire via trade for Patrick McCaw.
The Warriors are currently sitting at an NBA-best 41-12 on the season, which is two games ahead of the Houston Rockets for first place in the Western Conference. Golden State will host the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight.
