Chuck Strangers just dropped his debut album Consumers Park, which gives listeners a better idea of what the Brooklyn rapper is all about, while also delivering the traditional Pro Era boom bap fans have come to expect. On "Thoro Hall," Strangers taps fellow PE member Kirk Knight for a track that plays to his strengths, as he stylishly delivers braggy bars and flashes of political commentary ("Threw my last 3 thou' in the name of Sandra Bland / On my project cover I'm starin' like Sandra Bland"). The scratched up hook nods to DJ Premier and pays tribute to the people around Chuck and the place he calls home ("All up to Brooklyn / Shouts the whole scene / Pro Era represent / We stayin' fly"). Knight is a little more animated and high-register than Strangers, but just as charismatic. He's one of only a few features on the project, the others being Pro Era leader Joey Bada$$ and Beast Coast collaborator Issa Gold. Listen to the full project here.
Quotable Lyrics:
And I got dreams
Of spendin' Euros off the music shit
Know it sounds like loser shit
But all the deep talk, n***as is used to it
I've been Los Angeles
Paying off the damages
300 dollars say you ain't live yet
Plus I'm taking side bets
'Cause the Uber driver ain't arrived yet
