With Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott officially suspended for the next six games of the NFL season, the embattled athlete is looking to put some physical distance between him and the league that he's been in a contentious battle with more many months.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Elliott will begin serving his suspension this week and, until formal arguments will be heard during the next second circuit court date for him and his legal team on December 1st, he's skipping town. Apparently, the all-star running back will be traveling to an undisclosed location so that he can train and "clear his head," as per sources who were in contact with Rapoport. Of course, the exact destination that Elliott is headed to is being kept completely under wraps, but based on the information out there so far, he'll most likely be headed off the continent for at least a couple of weeks.
The trip out of the country is supposed to be part of Elliott's plan to do a "full reset," as per Rapoport's video report on this story, so that he can be ready to return to the field with the Cowboys in the near future. However, if the full six-game suspension holds up after the appeal process has been completed, Dallas' offensive weapon won't be back in the fold until December 24th, which definitely puts Jerry Jones' franchise in danger of dropping out of the playoff picture completely. Jones has made no secret about his displeasure regarding the suspension and the NFL's supposed vendetta against one of the core members of his team. With one attempt at reversing the suspension already rebuffed, the NFLPA's chances of altering the current outcome with a full-scale rehearing are pretty slim.
What do you think? Was the Ezekiel Elliott decision fair and balanced from the NFL, as well as the legal system? Or are they being too harsh on a player who should still be taking the field for the NFL's most famous franchise? Let us know where you stand in the comments.
