Rappers continuously reinvent themselves, and usually that involves a name-change. Recently Snoop Dogg has turned to reggae music and thus is now Snoop Lion. How would a change in moniker affect Gucci Mane's music? The rapper reportedly changed his name to Guwop, and shortly after decided against it.
The Atlanta native took to Twitter this morning to announce the change, saying that he wants to be known as Guwop starting July 2nd. "July 2nd I'm officially changing my rap name to Guwop and retiring the great GucciMane Thanks Fans, for 8 years as Gucci now it's Wop turn," Gucci tweeted.
However, thirty minutes later the rapper tweeted that he was officially not changing his name, due to the reaction of his fans."I am officially NOT changing my name to Guwop it will officially stay Gucci Mane due to my Fans' response.. Trap House 3 & Juug House July 2," he announced, and started retweeting fans who were against the name-change.
Gucci Mane recently released Free Bricks 2 with Young Scooter, and has Trap Back 2 on the way.
