Busta Rhymes teases his upcoming album, calling it "the most compelling body of work."

Fresh off the release of his new single Missy Elliott and Kelly Rowland assisted "Get It," Busta Rhymes recently sat down with Billboard to discuss his upcoming album, as well as some career highlights.

While Busta ultimately remains secretive about his new, he does reveal a few intriguing details. ""The only thing I am going to say is that this is definitely going to be my most compelling body of work that I've ever put together," says Busta, before reminding us of the lengthy gap between his studio albums. "I haven't dropped an album in retail since 2009. I am really proud of this project. I was very patient with it and took my time. Patience was probably one of my greatest weapons when putting this project together, because there was things I ended up stumbling on that ended up on the album years into the recording."

The legendary rapper also reflects on another career milestone - the 20th anniversary of his third album E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event): The Final World Front. In the same interview, he speaks on one of his personal highlights - collaborating with Janet Jackson on "What's It Gonna Be?!" Busta reflects on the story, which came about when Janet expressed interest in collaborating. "The [Janet Jackson] record came about as a result of her touring on her Velvet Rope Tour and she came to New York and did a radio interview on Hot 97 with Angie Martinez, who asked her, "Is there any hip-hop artist that you hasn't worked with that you would like to?"

When Janet answered "Busta Rhymes," the rest soon became history. "I was actually in my vehicle driving from Long Island to [New York City] and I had to pull over because I almost crashed," reflects Busta. Stay tuned for more news on his upcoming album, which is set to drop before the mid-point of 2018.
