It's the year of come-back albums, so it seems. Mystikal is another artist who is prepping his first album in twelve years. The rapper, who signed to Cash Money in December of 2011, has been working on his new album since 2010.
While talking to Rolling Stone, the New Orleans native spoke on his upcoming album, titled Original, which is due out in June. Mystikal said of the sound of the LP, "The sound that's prominent on the radio, and on hit records now, all that sound the same. I don't want all my hits to sound like that. I'm writing songs to perform, to entertain," he says. "And when I'm really trying to get inspired, I go backwards and I just rap."
Although Mystikal announced the title in March, we had no word on producers or features. Now Mystikal reveals he's been working with No Limit producer, KLC. Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Future, Busta Rhymes, and more will feature on the LP.
Mystikal ended by commenting on the change in his situation from a few years ago, as well as his determination. "We've been fuckin' getting it. It's the difference being the age I am now as opposed to a few years ago. The opportunities are so vast and the machine is primed and running. All you have to do is put me in front of the people and put the beat in front of me, and the rest is history."
