If you haven’t heard of Saweetie, you will soon enough. That’s a promise. Since the Bay Area upstart broke through with her “ICY GRL” single, she’s been pretty much inescapable, only padding onto a substantial social media presence.
A few viral clicks later, the young emcee has already inked a deal with Warner Bros. and has introduced yet another promising voice to the rash of new names putting on for the Left Coast. Now, she returns with a new freestyle, hopping over SOB x RBE’s “Anti” cut and delivering on a wavy new video in the process.
Directed by Bana Bongolan and Soben Phy, the new clip comes outfitted in a VHS aesthetic that keeps old-school Cali vibes alive and well as Saweetie and her crew roam through Glendale, California.
“I had such a great time filming my ‘ANTI’ freestyle video with my girls,” Saweetie told Rap-Up. “They’re the Icy crew, they represent what an Icy Grl means so well [...] It’s dope to see them blossom into independent-business savvy women. They’ve always been so supportive.”
This week, listeners will get to take a deeper look at the rising young star as she prepares to drop off her High Maintenance EP, set for release on March 16th. Before then, get acquainted via "ANTI."
