Yesterday, Migos released a snippet from their upcoming Quality Control compilation album, which targeted Joe Budden by name. "If a n***a hatin' call him Joe Budden," raps Quavo, before Takeoff chimes in with the "Pussy!" ad-lib. Initially, Joe fired off a few retaliatory tweets, asking Quavo if he wanted smoke, and pulling the OG card on the young ATLien. Many were immediately curious about how Joe would approach the subject on today's Everyday Struggle, and the rapper turned host had much to say on the matter. For anyone who thought Joe would be coming out of retirement for some lyrical retaliation, it would appear that ship will not be sailing anytime soon. However, he does give a pretty detailed breakdown of his reaction, including a hilarious moment in which he refers to Quavo as a "Joe Budden."
"I do think that somebody over there recognizes I've had a pretty decent year," says Joe, attempting to seek the Migos' motives. "[This diss] is attention seeking...I just want to be very clear that "Mr. irrelevant" himself has somehow found himself in a space where people I deem to be superstars are now using me and my platform to spread awareness." He goes on, stating "I have never heard Quavious more audible than that line...He gon' mumble every damn thing and then want to sound like Mr. college Harvard Lil Pump professor man when it get to the diss?"
He proceeds to directly address Quavo, saying "Listen Quavo, I'm not gonna spend to much time on this. I appreciate the shout out. Pee, Coach K, I have no issue with any of you gentlemen over there. I think ya'll move the culture forward, I want ya'll to continue to do that however the fuck you can. You feed a lot of people. Mumble, young man, mumble."
Check out Joe's entire thoughts, which pop off at the beginning of the episode. It's actually pretty interesting, especially once Joe begins to address the ongoing narrative of "old-heads vs mumble rappers." And of course, Joe has to slide in one final parting shot, this time, aiming directly at Offset.
