Whether you hate him or love him, you can’t deny the fact that Drake is ride or die for his day-one homies. Hell, he even wrote (or so we think?) a song about that concept with “No New Friends,” and most recently just paid a visit to his close friend Odell Beckham Jr’s hospital bed yesterday to give him some moral support following his ankle surgery. Today, Drake decided to give a special birthday shoutout to someone who helped him achieve of all his success over the years, that being fellow Toronto producer Boi-1da.
Early Thursday morning, Drizzy hopped on Instagram and shared an older pic of the hit-producer from years ago, while leaving a nice message and caption in the process.
“Happy Birthday to one of the greatest to ever do it. Thank you for being a brother and a inspiration in the same lifetime. Thank you for always delivering and keeping us moving forward. Most of all thank you for all your legendary fits since day one...Enjoy @boi1da”
In good fun, Boi-1da jumped in the comments and responded with a ton of crying laughing emojis and saying “omgggggggg real asshole.”
For those who were unaware, Boi-1da has been by Drake’s side from the very beginning, before most of us even knew who the Toronto superstar was. The two first collaborated on the song “Room For Improvement” back in 2006, before coming together for tracks on everyone of Drake’s projects, dating back to 2007’s Comeback Season & 2009’s So Far Gone mixtapes. As for some of the hits, Boi-1da is responsible for curating records like “Best I Ever Had,” “Over,” “The Language,” “The Pound Cake,” “0 to 100,” “Energy,” “10 Bands” & most recently “Free Smoke” to name just a few of them. However, Drake isn't the only artist Boi-1da has produced for. Eminem, Kanye West, Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, and just about any other house hold name artist you can think of have achieved success because of Boi-1da’s hit making ability.
