After it was announced that XXXTentacion would be hosting an anti-rape event in Miami to help raise awareness on the issue, many people on social media were skeptical. "Rape victims can come to this event and tell their stories and help others, and support others who have been through a similar instance," he said in the announcement video. "I ask that if you come to the event you come bearing no type of negative energy and you make sure you come with the full support in your heart to those that have experienced any sort of post-traumatic experience or event,” he added. Sadly the event has been cancelled.
However, despite this bad news, XXX is determined to make it up to his fans in the meantime. In a new video update that he shared on social media, the young rapper detailed that, in addition to finding another venue to make the event work on a future date, he'll also be putting on a free show to compensate for the delay.
"It was my fault completely that the event was cancelled," he stated. "I put the venue address out, which caused the venue to get spray painted," he added. He also clarified that the performance will be separate from the make-up anti-rape event, explaining that "I'm doing a free performance, free of charge, to make up for the fact that I didn't get this done on time."
There's no word yet on when this second stab at XXXTentacion's event will be held or where, but at the very least, the rapper's commitment to make this happen is admirable.
