The song further develops the "Bicoastal R&B" promised on the group's upcoming full-length.

Montreal-based trio Adhoc has returned with "The Heat," a catchy, mid-tempo cut with additional vocals from Claire Ridgely. The song follows previous releases like falsetto funk odyssey "China White" and MTL anthem "My City." It comes in advance of their impending full-length Bicoastal R&B. Billed as "thermotrap" on SoundCloud, the song offers a warm groove to contrast the cold shoulders they've received in their cold-ass city. In its half-sung verses, complimented by subtle vocal effects, the record, like the album title, suggests a push towards off-kilter R&B for the group. "The Heat is a Jean-Paul Sartre-inspired Craigslist ad for missed “connections” ~ a tale of star-crossed stunnas seeking a love to which there is no entrance, and more importantly, no exit," writes Adhoc via email. The song is the second of 12 monthly releases they have planned for 2018.

Ridgely, who provides both the hook and some half-hidden harmonies throughout, is also based in Montreal, and is preparing to release her debut EP in the near future.

Quotable Lyrics:
Woke up in the morning
I knew what was wrong
You were already gone
Give you a call
You ignoring my calls
Guess I'll just wait for your call back
Seven years later still checking my phone
I'mma fuck 'til it hurt
I'mma fuck 'til it don't
