Fans already know that Tech N9ne is a silver tongued lyricist. His interviews are equally impressive; the man is thoughtful and forthcoming with every question. We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with the legendary self-made mogul, and spoke at length about his wide ranging career. From the dark days of Anghellic to the forthcoming Planet, Tech spares no detail.
There's an interesting moment early on where he reflects on tapping into the darkness of KOD, explaining how fiction and reality quickly began to blur. He also admits that the dark space isn't a place he enjoys, but understands that the fans love it. "I don't want to have to have dark stories happen to me anymore," says Tech. "But one thing I realized is it's a part of me."
Darkness aside, Tech is clearly in a good space. He wastes little time in spreading the love, shouting out TDE (namely Kendrick Lamar and SZA) for having the courage to try new things in an otherwise copycat-heavy industry. Even XXXTentacion gets some praise from the Strange mogul. "When I see XXXTentacion jumping and surfing, it's beautiful," praises Tech. "When I see Travis Scott jumping, and the whole crowd is...it's a beautiful thing."
