Lil Uzi Vert, by all accounts, has had a year that most young rappers in the game would be quick to envy. His single "XO Tour Llif3" took the world by storm, going Platinum multiple times over and becoming one of the de facto hits from this past spring. Later on, as summer rolled around, his much-anticipated album Luv Is Rage 2 dropped, which was enthusiastically received as well, with fans pushing it to previously unimagined sales numbers and heights on Billboard's album chart. However, life can sometimes offer up little bumps in the road for personalities as successful as Uzi. In this particular instance, the setback came when he attempted to dunk a basketball.
In a video clip that has been making the rounds on social media, the young rapper is seen running up to what looks like a regular, playground-style rim and doing his best to throw down a one-handed stuff. Unfortunately for him, he came up a bit short on the finish, with the ball slipping out of his hands and his fingers grasp at thin air as he comes down from his leap. Just to be clear, it's not a horrible attempt - in fact, he nearly succeeds with the flush. But, alas, here we are, with the emcee going 0-for-1 in this footage. There are some theories as to why he missed it though; as one user said in the comments section, it may have to do with the tight nature of his pants, which may not have allowed for maximum thrust from his legs on the jump or the follow-through. Further to that, there seems to be at least a bit of a heel on the shoes that he's wearing, a feature that may have negatively impacted his ability to put the ball in the hole.
In any event, Lil Uzi Vert still had a decent start to the month, performing both "Sauce It Up" and "XO Tour Llif3" last week on TRL as part of their much-hyped relaunch. You can check those performances out here. What did you think of Uzi's dunk attempt? Let us know in the comments.
