Samsung has recently compiled a list of the most binge-worthy television box sets on the market, and unsurprisingly, mythical juggernaut Games of Thrones sits atop the list. Adapted from George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series, the HBO drama has consistently seen its viewership grow with each passing season, as it has effectively become a cultural phenomena watched by an abundance of disparate viewers.
Commissioned by Samsung UK, the data was collated from a survey of the television viewing habits of 2,000 adults, and showcased a variety of titles. Speaking with Independent, Samsung UK's Head of TV Product Management Steve Mitchell, who commissioned the survey, notes how "we’ve seen over the last few years that there has been a radical change in how people watch TV and their favourite programmes." Mitchell adds that "whether through box sets or streaming, we all have an opportunity to watch whatever content we want at a time that’s convenient for us." It has also been revealed that people in 2017 watch more television programming than 5 years ago, according to the participants within the study.
Breaking Bad comes in second place, as the hit AMC drama similarly saw its viewership increase with each passing season and a strong word-of-mouth from both critics and audiences alike. Downton Abbey also makes an appearance on the list at number 3, while the fourth and fifth positions are filed by The Walking Dead and The Sopranos, respectively.
