In an effort to recruit top high school basketball talents to his Junior Basketball Association, LaVar Ball's Big Baller Brand has begun direct messaging several players on twitter. The message informs the players, "you are one of the few talented athletes that we are inviting to change history with us & be a part of the JBA."
According to Joseph Tipton, a designer who edits the photos top high school players use to announce their college commitments, roughly 80 players have been contacted by the Big Baller Brand regarding the JBA and none have accepted. Although, there are a few that are reportedly interested in hearing more details.
In some instances, the recruits name wasn't even spelled right - as seen in the direct message below which was sent to Boston College Commit Jairus Hamilton.
LaVar's Big Baller Brand recently filed applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to get the rights for the Junior Basketball Association aka "JBA." According to a report by ESPN's Darren Rovell, LaVar is seeking 80 players to fill 10 teams that he hopes will play at NBA arenas in Los Angeles, Dallas, Brooklyn and Atlanta. In late December, Ball said getting players to join the JBA would be easy.
"Getting these players is going to be easy," Ball told ESPN. "This is giving guys a chance to get a jumpstart on their career, to be seen by pro scouts, and we're going to pay them because someone has to pay these kids."
LaVar reportedly hopes to launch the JBA sometime this Summer.
