We're just days away from the 52nd annual Super Bowl, scheduled to kickoff at 6:30pm ET at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota on Sunday, February 4th. The defending champion New England Patriots are favored by 4.5 points over the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles.
It'll be Tom Brady, the #1 passer in the NFL, against Nick Foles, the Eagles backup QB. David vs Goliath. The underdog role has suited Philly quite well over the last two games against Atlanta and Minnesota, but the Patriots are a whole different beast.
The Eagles have never won a Super Bowl in franchise history, whereas Brady and Bill Belichick will be looking for their sixth Super Bowl title together, and their second back-to-back. The last time the Eagles were in the Super Bowl was in 2004, when they suffered a 24-21 loss at the hands of... Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.
The Pats enter Super Bowl LII allowing an average of 14 points since Week 5, which is the best in the NFL in that stretch. However, teams have been able to expose their secondary. Only the Giants and Buccaneers allowed more passing yards this season than New England.
That said, Tom Brady and the Pats offense can put points up in a hurry if need be. Brady, who is expected to be named NFL MVP for the third time in his career, finished the season with a league-high 4,577 passing yards as well as 32 touchdowns to just eight interceptions. Philly's strong defensive line will need to get to Brady early and often.
It will also be crucial that the Eagles' three-headed backfield, consisting of Jay Ajayi, LeGarrette Blount and Corey Clement, help Nick Foles control the clock and keep Brady on the sidelines for as much of the game as possible.
Let us know who you got in Super Bowl LII. Will it be Brady and the Patriots hoisting the Lombardi Trophy once again? Or will the city of Philadelphia get their long awaited first Super Bowl victory?
