Some Bengals players want the team to bring in Kaepernick.

Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals suffered a brutal 13-9 loss at home against the Houston Texans last Thursday night, bringing their record to 0-2 on the season. Cincy's Week 2 loss, which followed their Week 1 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in which they were shutout 20-0, reportedly has some players in the Bengals locker room calling on the organization to make a QB change.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, "the feeling within the locker room, we're told, is that the leash isn't quite so long" in regards to quarterback Andy Dalton's status as the starter moving forward. And some players, according to Florio, want the team to seriously consider signing free agent QB, Colin Kaepernick.

"There's a feeling among some of the players that the Bengals should go off the board and consider bringing in Colin Kaepernick," Florio writes.

The Bengals changed offensive coordinators after their 0-2 start, as head coach Marvin Lewis was in the midst of “near mutiny" following their second straight game without a touchdown. Dalton has thrown four touchdowns so far this season and the offensive line has failed to protect him, yielding five sacks to the Ravens and another three at the hands of the Texans last Thursday.

Kaepernick played in 12 games for the San Francisco 49ers last season, throwing 16 touchdowns and just four interceptions, although the team won just two games. According to Mike Florio, there's no indication the team would consider bringing him in, despite the rumblings in the locker room.

Should the Bengals decide to bench Andy Dalton, their backup quarterback is AJ McCarron, who was drafted by Cincinnati in the fifth round of the 2014 Draft. According to Pro Football Reference, McCarron has started in just three games in his brief career, all of which came in the 2015 season.

The Bengals will face their first road test of the season in Week 3 when they travel to Lambeau Field for a matchup with the Green Bay Packers.
