The growing SoundCloud release finds mikey fine-tuning his core sound.

Since he shared the hypnotic "Family Ties" In December, North Carolina rapper mikey100k's SoundCloud has continued to produce gems. "Feels," a track released last month, has been getting some attention on the platform, and is one of mikey's most polished statements yet. Creeping, synthetic textures from Messiah Beatz set the mood for the track, which begins with a tastefully building hook, accented by well-placed vocal interjections that feel bigger than rap. His progressively complex songwriting arrangements see him skewing closer to R&B/pop talents like Starrah or Jeremih, as does the just-petty-enough brush-off of a former lover at the song's center.

Apart from the strong melodies and arrangement, the attention to detail in mikey's vocal tone and dynamic production promise of a big future for the NC vocalist. With a dancehall-inflected single assisted by Ye Ali also making the rounds on SoundCloud, it's clear that he's not holding himself back when it comes to experimenting with different styles, but "Feels" is an example of how much he can do with his core sound.

Quotable Lyrics:
Talkin' like she miss me
Baby trippin'
Give me space, yeah
Give me distance
Shoulda held me down
I know you gon' miss this
I just had to change up
Look how I came up
