YFN Lucci delivers a trap lullaby on "650 Luc."

Friday was an eventful day for YFN Lucci. The Atlanta rapper celebrated his birthday on the courts, partaking in Snoop Dogg & 2 Chainz Hip-Hop All Star Game, and dropped off the Freda's Son EP for good measure. All in a day's work. The concise project is a step in the right direction for Lucci, who found himself on the verge of breaking out last year; an early 2018 drop is surely a positive omen, as it generally signifies some heat in the stash. Yesterday, the energetic "Front Row In LA" was highlighted, but today's subject shows another side of Lucci's versatility.

The Bobby Kritikal produced track is a trap lullaby. Soothing in spite of the up-tempo drums, Lucci spits melodic vocals with a slight hint of autotune. While on paper that might sound like familiar territory, it's a strong effort nonetheless. Emotion flows through Lucci''s bars as he reflects on the come-up.

Quotable Lyrics

I done gave away too much of mine
But Ima be just fine
I don't even remember the last time
I paid my rent on time
